First go turn off the gas , a leaky gas line could explode and take out your entire home . Look for cracks in the slab or any areas where the house carpet is lifted up. Then walk around the exterior of the house and see what happened ? Have a care package ready for your entire family for 5-days food and have it easily portable in case you have to pack up the SUV to get out of dodge. 2. If you live in the high building , don`t try to run away aimlessly because you have not enough time . The most safe and effective method is to hide in the smallest room such as kitchen or toilet. Also you can hide under the furniture like table , cabinet. Anyway ,you must protect your head. Do remember never hide in the balcony and under the window.
3.If you are in the class when earthquake happened, don`t be in a panic . The students neared the door can run out of the room quickly, the rest may hide under the desk as soon as possible and protect your head with school bag.
4.If you have leaved the room, never go back to get your things when the earthquake stopped just recently. Because there may go on many aftershocks that might bring more threat for people.
5.If you are in the street ,never go to the building to escape or stay under the dangerous places like billboard, bridge or narrow lane.
6.If you are buried in the building after the earthquake, you ought to try the best to eliminate the objects pressing on your body. Moreover you can use the towel or clothes to guard against the dirt. Also don`t give up in any circumstance , you must create every possible factor to survive , waiting for the support.
