What should you do after an Earthquake?

What should you do after an Earthquake? Generally, you need to do an immediate damage assessment. You can consult for the advices listed below.
First go turn off the gas , a leaky gas line could explode and take out your entire home . Look for cracks in the slab or any areas where the house carpet is lifted up. Then walk around the exterior of the house and see what happened ? Do you see downed fences, retaining walls, support structures holding up the garage at weird angles or any areas where your house was knocked off its foundation? Look also for water pipes which have been broken, if so shut off the main water line coming into the house. If there is extensive damage then that means the other neighbors have also and the entire area.

Then you have to worry about chaos and riots when entire neighborhoods and cities are damaged. Instruct your family to ration water, fill up your tubs with water now in case main water lines to the city have broken. Additionally, join in with your neighbors to form a support group and access all damage and get with other neighbors near by and find out what is going on. In the event of power outages, instruct all neighbors to turn off all appliances so it does not spike the system when everything turns back on. If the power is still out after several hours; figure out a plan for food and BBQ and have a street party, but do not waste your food; stick together and ride it out. Also plan what to do in case of huge fires or forced evacuation. Have a care package ready for your entire family for 5-days food and have it easily portable in case you have to pack up the SUV to get out of dodge. The best time to plan home security in the event of an Earthquake is before it happens, so think on this.

Tips for fire safety

Most people ignore that fire is the third leading cause of accidental deaths in the United States.Every day there may occur more than 130 workplace fires .However, many of theses accidents could have been prevented if they only had a plan and mastered some common sense. Following I will suggest some tips for fire safety.

The number one tip is that to make sure all family members know what to do in the event of a fire. In a fire, timing is very critical. Don't waste time getting dressed, don't search for pets or valuables. Just get out! Set up a way for everyone can realize the accident has occurred like screaming, pounding on walls, yelling "fire"!

If a fire happens in your home, you have to get out fast! Be sure that everyone knows at least two escape exits, the doors and windows from every room.Prepare for a fire emergency by sitting down with your family and agreeing on an escape plan. Decide on a meeting place outside where everyone will meet after they escape the fire. Have your entire household practice your escape plan at least twice a year.

Smoke detectors is useful especially when the family is asleep. It can alert you to a fire in your home in time for you to escape the blaze. Install smoke detectors on every floor of your home, including the basement. Test detectors every month, following the manufacturer's directions, and replace batteries once a year, or whenever a detector "chirps" to signal low battery power. Make sure your alarm works at all times! A non functional smoke detector can't save your life or your family's. Replace detectors that are more than a years old.

Never leave cooking unattended. Keep cooking areas clear of combustibles. Turn pot handles inward on the stove where you can't bump them and children can't grab them and burn themselves. If grease catches fire in a pan, slide a lid over the pan to smother the flames and turn off the heat. Leave the lid on until cool. The Top 4 Office Security Tips

1 . Have a designated person (or persons) open-up and lock-up your premises at the start and end of the business day. It is best not to operate on the basis of ‘first employee(s) in unlocks the office, and last employee(s) out lock-up the office. Avoid leaving entrance doors unlocked and unattended.
2. To perform a specific job function’. Twenty-four hour, 7-day-a-week access should only be assigned to employees who really require it as part of their job function. Delete missing,
lost, or stolen cards immediately. At least annually, request employees to produce their assigned access card. Review access records regularly and follow-up on cards that are not
used on a frequent basis.
3. Request employees to wear their access cards as a method of making strangers stand out. To discourage ‘piggybacking’, erect closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras at entrances. Employees should be advised that if a person who is unknown to them appears to be waiting outside an entry point, they should avoid letting them in.
4. To help prevent theft of proprietary information, a ‘clean desk’ policy should be instituted. To ensure on-going compliance, inspections should be conducted every two to four weeks during program implementation, and at least quarterly thereafter. As well, the use of a self-inspection checklist can encourage employees to keep their desks clean, and secure sensitive data when they leave their work area unattended.

Security management

Security Management is a broad field of management related to asset management, physical security and human resource safety functions. It entails the identification of an organization's information assets and the development, documentation and implementation of policies, standards, procedures and guidelines.

In network management it is the set of functions that protects telecommunications networks and systems from unauthorized access by persons, acts, or influences and that includes many functions, such as creating, deleting, and controlling security services and mechanisms; distributing security-relevant information; reporting security-relevant events; controlling the distribution of cryptographic keying material; and authorizing subscriber access, rights, and privileges.

Management tools such as information classification, risk assessment and risk analysis are used to identify threats, classify assets and to rate system vulnerabilities so that effective control can be implemented.

The meaning of life

A turtle sees a bee is busy gathering honey and says to it:"I heard your life is only several months, really?"
The bee glances at the turtle ,says:"we do can survive only few months."
The turtle says:"our life is very long ,many of us can survive more than hundred years. Why not enjoy your short life instead of work hard for others?"
The bee answers :"Because we know our lives are not long ,so we cherish time greatly. We also tr treasure our lives. Based on that reason ,we will utilize every minute and second fully to do more beneficial things for human being before we die. "
The turtle asks :"You will leave the world soon. so You don`t feel unhappy and inferior, do you ? "
The bee answers :"of course ,we all feel unhappy since we can`t live in the world long ,but we don`t feel inferior .On the contrary , we feel a sense of pride for brewing plentiful honey for human being through our hard--working . Although our lives are short, the meaning of life is unlimited. In my opinion, it is meaningless for some people to survive in the world over hundred years if they do nothing throughout their lives. What do you think?"
After the turtle has heard what the bee said , it leaves away without saying anything.
The meaning of life is to possess substantial live rather than a longer one.

Make Your Home Unattractive to Thieves

Anyone who works in the security business will tell you that if a thief really wants to get into your home, he probably will. However, there's good news here. Most thieves don't want to get into your particular home; they just want to get into anybody's home. SO the trick becomes, making your home less attractive (let's say harder to get into) than someone else's.

You can make your home unappealing to a potential thief in a number of ways. You can install alarm systems and spend hundreds of dollars for ongoing monitoring. Alternatively, you can hire a security company to actually drop by and check out your home on a regular basis. Or, you can hang onto a lot of money and do some low cost (but effective deterrents) all by yourself.

10 Tips for Writing Bookmarkable Content

Why should we write bookmarkable content?

There are several benefits to writing bookmarkable content. It has the potential to become popular on social bookmarking services like del.icio.us, and it brings in repeat traffic from readers who’ve bookmarked it for future use. Bookmarkable content is also a form of vital content: content readers can’t do without. This kind of content has been the foundation of some of the world’s best blogs.

Elements of bookmarkable content

It’s not necessary that you try to include all these elements at once, but each on their own (or in a sensible combination) will increase the likeliness of your content being bookmarked.

1. Length. One common reason why readers bookmark is that they want to read the content from start to finish but don’t have the time at the moment. Writing a good quality article which is longer than your average blog post is a good way to get bookmarked.

2. Introduce a new idea. Seth Godin’s blog posts seem almost contradictory to the above point, in that they are frequently bookmarked but tend to be quite short. What makes them bookmarkable is that they contain thought-provoking ideas readers don’t want to risk forgetting. You can encourage bookmarks by innovating.

3. Write a useful tutorial, how to, or guide. Tutorials tend to contain too many steps to memorize in one sitting. If a reader thinks what you are teaching is worthwhile, they’ll bookmark it. The most successful tutorials and guides are written about something a lot of readers want to do but haven’t been shown how elsewhere. Uniqueness and demand are the key factors in deciding whether a tutorial is bookmarkable.

4. Create a one-stop reference. This requires more hard-work than creativity, and as such anyone can do it. Pick a topic and assemble all the useful information and resources you can find on that topic in one place. Readers are likely to bookmark this because you’ve done all the hard-work for them.

5. Create a recommended list. If you’ve developed a sense of trust with your readers then they’re likely to respect your opinion. Create a list of your favorite blogs, or favorite websites, or favorite posts, or favorite albums, etc. Readers will appreciate the recommendation from someone they trust. The longer the list, the more likely it is to be bookmarked and returned to later.

6. Create a cheat sheet for your topic. A cheat sheet is any single-page reference guide for a topic. A web-designer’s cheat sheet might contain definitions of every CSS term, a beginner chess player’s cheat sheet might outline how the pieces are set-up on the board, and how they move, a traveler going to Japan might create a cheat sheet with key Japanese phrases, tourist attractions, notes on local customs, and so on.

Cheat sheets encourage bookmarking because they’re a quick reference for information that can’t easily be remembered.

7. Make a convincing argument on a controversial topic. Readers who share your opinion will often bookmark the post if they feel you’ve stated their case more eloquently than they themselves could. When the argument comes up elsewhere, that reader is likely to point others to your article as a means of stating their case. There is even a chance that your post could go viral — though you have to be prepared for a little controversy in the comments section!

8. Compile great videos on a topic. Search for the best ten (or whatever number) videos on your topic and compile them in a post. If each video is 5 minutes long then it might take half-an-hour to watch them all. Readers will be more likely to bookmark the post and watch a new video when they have the time.

9. Remedy a problem. If the remedy is not a simple process readers are likely to bookmark it so they can implement the points over time. Even readers who are not yet suffering the problem might bookmark the post just in case they suffer it in future. I myself have bookmarked a post which lists dozens of content ideas — even though I’m nowhere near running out of ideas yet.

10. Compile a directory of links. These links are usually grouped under one broad topic and divided into sub-headings. There might be a sentence or two of evaluative or descriptive text next to the link. The more links, the more bookmarkable the content.

What is Security ?

Home security

Home security should be important to everyone whether you live in a house or an apartment.

Knowing your home is protected provides peace of mind both when you are away and when you are home. Security is important even if you have outstanding public safety agencies (police, fire, highway patrol, etc.) in your area. There are far more homes than there are police officers, not to mention a plethora of skilled thieves, so it's important for you to do everything possible to make your house secure rather than just relying on others.

When people think of protecting their homes, they often think of fancy expensive security systems with lots of bells and whistles. That is certainly an option, but there are measures you can take that won't break the bank, too. Also, depending on your home and neighborhood, you may not need the most expensive system.

Home security isn't just about your own home, either. A lot of determining whether or not you're a significant risk involves taking stock of your neighborhood including public safety facilities like police and fire stations. Though incidents can happen to anyone, some neighborhoods are certainly more at risk than others. Installing a burglar alarm can certainly help make you less of a target, but the best strategy may be to start a neighborhood watch.

Home security is also about you and your habits. If you have a large family where someone is almost always home, you may be less at risk than someone who lives alone and is frequently away on business trips. The value of your home and your possessions is also a factor, although thieves can also be tempted by less valuable items if they believe they will be easy to fence.

When you think of protecting your family and your belongings, you'll also want to think of personal safety and the protection of things that are important to you but might not necessarily be located in your home, such as your car. Motion-sensing lights and driveway alarms may deter thieves from breaking into your car when you are at home, but what about when you are at work? Or out on the town? Check out this site's article section to find information on car alarms and car theft prevention tips.

To keep your family safe, you should also include an accident prevention and fire safety plan. These types of dangers can put you and your family at risk as well as threatening to destroy your personal belongings. Forethought and preventative measures go a long way in this area.

May day holiday

I have three days holiday because May day holiday,so happy; At these days I visited many parks and sea side , I like the sea very much,i like sit in the seashore ,feel the wind and thinking something.
Three days, not long but not short too , before i left home to enjoy my visit , I did something to protect my house:
  • Make sure all doors to the outside have good locks. Every door that leads to the out side should have locks including: screen and storm doors, garage doors, basement doors and sliding doors. Where applicable use deadbolts with a minimum of 1 ½” bolts

  • Lock up every time you go out, even if you will only be gone a short time. Almost 50 percent of burglars enter homes or property through unlocked doors or windows.
  • Never hide keys outside in a secret location. Burglars know where to look! Leave a spare key with a trusted neighbor instead.
  • Make sure all windows, but especially those on the first floor, have good locks and make sure you use them.
And if you need security products to help you protect your home , you can visited this site:
